The model came in at just under 3000 tris and has 2 colour maps 515*512 for the body and 256*256 for the head and jet pack. There is also 1 trans map for the head and I tried making a normal map for the body too.

What method did you use to try and make the normal map with? Painting it or creating a High res model? If a high res model could I see it and the end result? I'm still learning myself and its interesting to see how people have attempted to add detail. The thing I'm learning is what detail shoes up well on the normal map.

[Link] This link should have an image of the high res model on the second page. Unfortunatly I can't find the disc with Delano's project on it, hopefully it's in the box I haven't unpacked yet. I found alot of the detail was lost on the normal map but I think that had to do with the texture space assigned.

I also created both models in Maya, since I couldn't get Zbrush to work for me :shakefist: , so maybe... meh. A friend recently told me about another program that was like Zbrush but more userfriendly so I might give that a go (mudbox) but I think it's still in Beta.

Yeah there are a lot of these lighter modelling packages coming up. I keep on telling myself I'm going to learn Zbrush but never get around to it :(
